Safe, healthy, appealing, accessible, and inclusive dining at college is a prerequisite for finding the best college fit. SafeTable Solutions offers affordable individualized guidance on navigating the college search process and making the most of your college visits with our Campus Visit Package, and/or advice when seeking accommodations once an admitted student with our Matriculation Package. With the right preparation, it is possible to eat safely and inclusively at college!
Our Solutions:
For Students with Food Allergies & for Higher Education Institutions
Recognizing that many families are most comfortable conducting their own research, STS offers a series of three asynchronous Online Lessons to teach parents/teens or college counselors how to navigate the college search process with FA -- to help students learn what they need to know to transition from eating at home to dining everyday. Topics covered include common ways special diets are accommodated (e.g., allergen labeling, signage, allergen-friendly stations, staff training, etc.), allergic reaction emergency plans, and self-advocacy.
We also welcome the opportunity to advise higher education professionals on best practices for accommodating FA on their campuses.

Safe and Inclusive Eating on College Campus
For All Students
The Problem:
The Realities & Challenges of College Dining for Students with Food Allergies
7-11% of college-aged students in the U.S. have food allergies, and the numbers are rising

Severe food allergies are protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Anaphylaxis occurs more often among college-aged individuals

Colleges vary in how they offer safe, accessible & appealing food service for students with special dietary restrictions

Food is an integral part of the college experience, and is not only essential for good health, but builds community. SafeTable Solutions (STS) seeks to identify a safe, inclusive, and equitable college experience—in the dining halls and beyond—for college students with severe food allergies and medically necessary special diets (e.g., celiac disease and Alpha-gal syndrome) (”FA”) by providing support to students and parents during the college search process and transition to college.
STS currently offers both individualized consulting for families and also online lessons to teach parents/teens and college counselors how to navigate the college search process with FA. In addition, STS is uniquely positioned to advise college administrators on best practices for meeting the needs of students with medically necessary special diets to be in compliance with the ADA.
